Raheem Devaughn

Raheem Devaughn's Love ExperienceDecided it was time to start with my long list of artists I would like to promote… Names that have not really that much attention in Europe, but might get some love through this site and its visitors…

First up: Raheem Devaughn. What do you think of him and how do you feel his music?

Bling. The other, dark side.

I do not wear jewelry, not even a watch. So the term “bling” is something I simply do not relate to. I know that all that “ice” and platinum is some sort of statement to show off status, but I just think the inner can radiate more than all that.

Ice, diamonds… Kanye West brought it already to our attention: Conflict Diamonds from Sierra Leone, blood diamonds. The stones that provide the money that keeps the killing going on. I knew the story, knew some of the history. But the visual always says more.

For those not familiar with the term ‘conflict’- or ‘blood’-diamonds, please check this site and watch the movie by Kareem Edouard. Yes, violent graphics, but these are facts that have to be known.

Peace out, support the Inner Beauty Movement.

Honey Soul

When writing on artists/bloggers that I admire, I cannot omit Honey Soul.

Honey SoulWhile I was looking for background-reading on Dwele, I found a 2-part interview with him on this lovely site that made me apple+D (ctrl+d for windowsers) right away.
Honey started her website in 2004 and built up a great audience of soul-loving people. Right now she has a very solid and profound site that contains her own mix of “radio blogs”, full CD previews, videos, new releases, and headlines. And to show (off) her love and feeling for Soul Music, she also has a feature called SOUL2SOUL, in which she interviews both upcoming and settled soul-stars. [This will also be her radioshow and podcast via Project:VIBE internet radio]
Honey Soul is a site that can and may not be neglected by true soulful people…

Honey’s quote on Music:

I Love Music! It thrills me in ways I could never express verbally. I feel it deeply. It arouses my emotions. I crave it, I’m addicted. Music satisfies me and sets me free.

Todd Kelley

Todd KelleyWhile clicking around looking for interesting music sites about half a year ago, I came across the site of Todd Kelley. Drawn by his taste of music, I frequented his site more regularly, as well as his area at myspace.

Thought it nice to share this wonderful gathering of great music and artists with you.

Todd has splendid taste and produces sweet podcasts that are real ear-openers. Besides that, he has a collection of radio.blogs that simply make my day. He creates beat, loops, music with impact and stays humble about his results… impressive.
His view on music is something I can totally comply with:

Music is my life. It consumes me… nourishes me… keeps me grounded during the good and the bad times…

Check his sites and show him some love:

Urge and Justin

At CES:

With a patient look on his face, Bill Gates welcomed pop star Justin Timberlake to the stage Wednesday night during the his keynote speech at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The singer was there, along with MTV Networks head Van Toffler, to tout the Urge music subscription service, soon to be released by MTV. Unlike any rival service, Urge is built directly into Microsoft’s upcoming version of the Windows Media Player.

So… soon there will be another option for music download, experience and interaction. I can understand that for some consumers making a simple choice becomes a drama. Of course Bill scoops up a load of clients by integrating Urge into the new release of WMP. But still, there are sooo many possibilities!

Personally I stick to iTunes and regular CD’s, I do not want to have accounts everywhere…

On the side, good to hear a little on Justin Timberlake again. While he has been busy in movies lately, he announced to find a balance in his acting- and singing career. I do hope so. Together with Timbaland, The Neptunes and Nelly, he made some hott tracks. A new album would really be appreciated.
