Hil St. Soul
Sometimes you have to be pointed in the right direction. That is the case with Hil St. Soul for me. I received an email asking to take a look at her MySpace-site and help promoting her…
Where music is my everything, I am critical… Music involves taste and is therefor personal. So only if I like it, I will spend time and webspace on it.
As I am writing about her this very moment you can understand I liked what I heard. So let me please share this wonderful person with you!
Let us first take a look at whom we are talking about:
Hilary Mwelwa was born in Lusaka, Zambia. At the age of 5 she was relocated with her family in London. As a child she adopted her fathers love of music, as their home was immersed with the sounds of traditional Zambian music along with such American R&B/soul icons as Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. [source:MySpace/HilStSoul]
When she took a year off from science education to pursue her musical dreams, she put her first and definite steps on what is her current path of life: Good Music.
Hilary Mwelwa is the next British R&B phenomenon destined to win over American R&B and soul devotees. USA Today declares: “Mwelwa’s vocals are always enticing”, while Vibe Magazine heralds Mwelwa’s rich, velvety voice warms the inside like a spot of tea.
And now she has dropped Soulidified, her brand new album (and her THIRD!!!) which title quite describes as how I experience her music: a very pure and complete soulful sound that really reaches my inner-me. For some reason I have the feeling that this is an artist that does not throws her music against you… instead she is there and embraces you… I like her even more because of her wonderful duet with my man Dwele, which is smooth and sexy in a way I can really digg.
Furthermore the album includes Baby Come Over, the endearing and catchy Sweet On You, the soulful and inviting Hey Boy and the first single, a strikingly beautiful, pensive and emotional ballad Goodbye. The latter you can view on her MySpace site too…
I think I have been suggested a very fine and pure artist and do encourage every reader to check her music and website and show her great love!

I’ve been hip to Hil St Soul for a few months now and I do my best to spread the word about this phenomenal group. Where the industry is so immersed in cute little teens who can’t sing for crap, it feels good to hear and appreciate good pure music. I hope they have much success!!!
